The Selby Green Party has successfully selected its Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Selby & Ainsty Constituency, Ian Richards. Ian, a resident of Selby, is delighted to have been selected and is looking forward to campaigning to help those hardest hit by the austerity measures of the coalition government.
Ian says, “We need to rethink how we care for people through paying a living wage, fighting against NHS privatisation, making our children’s education a priority and investing in clean, affordable energy. The coalition hasn’t done any of this and they’ve had five years to make things better”.
The Selby Greens are part of a concerted effort by the Green Party of England and Wales to increase its local councillors and parliamentary candidates across Yorkshire in a bid to become a strong voice for change across the county.
Commenting on the launch of their campaign, Selby Green Party candidate, Ian Richards said, “Selby and Ainsty residents now have a chance to vote for what they believe in and really make a difference”.
The next Selby Green Party meeting is on Monday 13 April 2015 at Selby Community Centre, on Scott Road, from 19.30 onwards. See the Selby Green Party Facebook page for further details.
During the meetings, the Selby Green Party would be keen to meet more Selby residents to discuss local issues and to continue the campaign to build a society that works for the common good.
