Arnold Warneken, Green Party Parish Councillor for Tockwith, and Parliamentary Candidate for Selby & Ainsty, is raising concerns about short supply of commonly-prescribed drugs due to Brexit fears.
After recently trying to purchase painkillers unsuccessfully from a number of Wetherby shops [1], Arnold then discovered that harassed reception staff at a local GP surgery was dealing with complaints from anxious patients, whose regular prescriptions were being rationed.
“Supply chains for common drugs like paracetamol and metformin are already being affected by the prospect of a No-Deal Brexit, and as usual, it’s the vulnerable who suffer most. Nobody voted in the 2016 Referendum for our country to run out of essential medicines, but it’s already happening!” said Arnold.
“Following the Labour Party’s vote not to campaign to Remain, and the Liberal Democrat decision to move directly to revoke Article 50, it’s now only the Green Party that stands up for everyone’s right to make an INFORMED choice about whether leaving the EU is really in our best interests!”
