Selby & District Green Party announces their candidate for the next General Election

The newly-relaunched Selby & District Green Party is thrilled to announce their candidate for Selby & Ainsty at the next general election.

Arnold Warneken has lived and worked in the constituency for over 30 years, and has been involved in several successful local businesses and charities. He was the first Green Party councillor in Yorkshire, winning a long-held Tory seat in the Marston Moor Ward of Harrogate District Council. He has a history of building coalitions with other parties, and getting things done for the benefit of local voters.

He is committed to stopping the catastrophe of Brexit, and solving the underlying issues that concern ordinary working people such as lack of finance for vital public services, threats to job security and availability of housing.

“The government needs to build a strong respectful dialogue with ALL members of society, so that the destructive divisions resulting from the 2016 Referendum can be healed, and Britain can resume its position as a respected member of the EU.  The Greens will work at a local, national and international level to build a fair society that listens to, and acts on behalf of, all citizens.”
